This week we feature classic jazz vocals from Faith Pillow, new electro-acoustic Brazilian music from Da Cruz, and 12 versions of Charlie Mingus’ tribute to Lester Young, "Goodbye Porkpie Hat," performed by Mingus, Jeanne Lee & Mal Waldron, Silvia Dorste, The Mingus Big Band, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, John Etheridge, Jerry Gonzalez, Joni Mitchell, Mark Murphy, City Light Orchestra, Ian Shaw, and D.D. From doo wop of the fifties to electronic & rap, this week we cover a huge swath time-wise. We start off with 28 doo wop songs and then follow with a feature on London-based lyricist Lyric L who raps over computer generated music. We close with New Zealand artists Aaradhna, Ruia & Renea, and Whirimako Black cover Soul, Reggae and Jazz classics.

We start the week off reconsidering Ahmad Jamal, Duke & Trane, and Miles plus a consideration of Brad Mehldau and Mario Cononge. Then we go down under for some Kiwi Soul featuring Nat Rose, Ladi6, Iva Lamkum and Mihirangi. We close with seven interpretations of "Blackbird" by the Beatles featuring Trijntje Oosterhuis, Dionne Farris, Tony Williams, Sarah Vaughn, Rene Marie, Brad Mehldau and Faith Pillow.
