This is the week of August 26th, 2007

Classic tracks by the O’Jays from their classic album, Ship Ahoy. Cuba L.A. and The Klazz Brothers offer us Afro-cuban music that mixes jazz and classical music. From Brazil we get a double handful of versions of "Felicidade" by Suba (remixes), Gal Costa, Martinho Da Vila, Quarteto Em Cy, Quarteto Jobim-Morelenbaum, Maria Bethania, Trio Esperanca, Milton Nascimento, and Marcelo Quintaniha & Vania Abreu. Once again a week of wild and wonderful music on BoL.

This is the week of August 19th, 2007

Let’s see what would happen if you mixed Ghostface Killah and The Stylistics, or UGK and Willie Hutch, and you know Wu-Tang Clan and Gladys Knight & The Pips are a natural, but then too you got Dillinger and Dennis Brown, and capping it off, Patti Labelle & The Blue Belles with Kanye West. It’s more than sampling, deeper than a simple mash up. This week we’re on some other kind of ish. Plus from old-old skool we’ve got Roy Hamilton and DJ Arythematic 411 doing a remix of "When We Were Kings" featuring The Fugees, A Tribe Called Quest, Busta Rhymes and John Forte. Plus we’ve got Miles Davis remixes with Santana, Nas, Geri Allen, Vince Wilburn Jr. and a host of others. You don’t want to miss all this ying/yang, something old, something blue, something hip, something new.

This is the week of August 12th, 2007

You’re not going to believe this, but this week it’s rap and Country & Western. That’s right: Nas, GZA, Rakim, Melle Mel, KRS One, The Last Poets, UGK, Devin the Dude, La Mala Rodriguez, Tolcha, Too Short, MC Lyte and Lupe Fiasco doing both classic and contemporary rap. And on the other side of town, Ray Charles covering Country & Western songs. I don’t think you’re ready for this ;->)
