This is the week of February 26th, 2006

Althea & Donna take us "Uptown Top Ranking." We cross the water and visit a spell with Sara Tavares from Portugal. And then we relax a spell and say “Hello” to Todd Rundgren, Groove Theory, John Legend and The Isley’s. Last week was winter ruff, it’s time to unwind and relax.

This is the week of February 19th, 2006
It’s Nat ‘King’ Cole week at Breath of Life. We have a collection of classics by the man himself as well as two tributes by his daughter, Natalie Cole, and another by one of the many R&B singers who idolized him, a young Marvin Gaye. Also, check the jukebox for two bonus tracks sent in by a reader: a Bunny Clarke reggae cover and a Lee Perry dub of last week’s Classic, "Be Thankful."

This is the week of February 12th, 2006

This week, we’re telling stories. It’s William DeVaughn, Massive Attack, Omar & Erykah Badu and Donovan Carless on Cadillacs and thankfulness. The Roy Campbell Trio, Weldon Irvine and Terry Callier bring three different perspectives to the Amadou Diallo story. And, Bobbie Gentry, Nancy Wilson, Lou Donaldson and King Curtis tell the tale of Billie Joe McAllister, a Mississippi country boy who died before his time and under mysterious circumstances.

This is the week of February 5th, 2006

"Don’t Let The Sun Catch You Crying" is a classic song that’s over fifty years old. Listen to Louis Jordan, Ray Charles, tuba-player and bandleader Howard Johnson featuring vocalist Taj Mahal, and the German acoustic-soul duo of Tok Tok Tok interpret the song down through the years. Meshell Ndegeocello has a new album. Joe Bataan covers himself singing about an "Ordinary Guy" with help from The Intruders and Terry Callier. This week we focus on extraordinary renditions of the ordinary condition. Join us.
