I discovered "Daahoud" after reading Brown's biography--it is a favorite song of mine. The other songs are new for me. Love "Wee-Dot!" The ballads are a revelation as well. Idon't think we can overestimate the profound effect Brown's "clean living" had on jazz artists. By most accounts, drugs and alcohol were cutting down so many musicians (some say that they were seeking to emulate Bird) when Brown came up. Sometimes in life we don't see another way until someone shows us another way. That's what Brown meant to his peers--and his command of his instrument, creativity and integrity gave his personal example weight. Thank you for sharing this lovely music! Beautiful music, Baba! She commited to a life long engagement for her peers that led to exile,etc... (also I don't know much more about her)... and she made grate music... why not a post about her ?
