I love Phyllis' voice; but a lot of her work is sometimes hard to listen to. Not sure how to best express it; but its kind of like how you described Billie's music (like congac, I think you said). Maybe it's because I know how closely the sadness in the lyrics of their songs paralleled the real sadness in their lives. That said; there are many Phyllis songs that I can jut put on repeat and listen to over and over (eg. ,When I Give My Love, Betcha, Somewhere In my Lifetime, You Know how To Love Me, Tonight, etc.).
