I've played it continously since I got the "Mighty Love" LP in 1974 and even writing about it brings a tear to my eye. A few years ago I read that only six people attended Phillipe's funeral and somehow that makes it even more poignant. "I'm gonna love you, I'm gonna need you, oh baby ...." The Spinners were the best and at their best with Phillipe. "Love" isn't a kid's song, you have to have loved, been loved, lost your love,been picked up again, loved again, gained hope and been dropped on your butt again to begin to get it. Gladys included "Love" in her medley of Classics that included "If You Don't Know Me", "End of the Road". Phillipe was an unsung Giant of Soul. Thanks for bringing it back to the front of my mind again. “Love Don’t Love Nobody” definitely a top 5 Soul Ballad.
