And thanks for letting me know that the track is called “Summer In The City.” I listened to it before I read all of your posting to see what I could pull out, and I said, “Hmmm, that’s from the Pharcyde’s ‘Passing Me By.’ ” Then I went to the next song in the jukebox to learn that it’s Quincy’s “Summer In The City.”

You know for all the criticism that hip hoppers steal other people’s sounds, that they are quote unquote not original, for me hip hoppers have helped me discover so much music I wouldn’t have otherwise heard. Going back to the Pharcyde’s “Passing Me By.” The rhythmic scratching that begins the song introduced me to Jimi before I’d bought any of his work. Ice Cube’s “It Was A Good Day” turned me on to the Isleys. I could go on and on. Anyway, glad to have the knowledge of a new sample. I’d have never known this one otherwise.
